The Meeting at a glance

Registration Fees and Congess Venue

Although the luxurious atmosphere and the comfort served by the Hilton Hotel, Weimar will be even higher than in Berlin, we could negotiate an agreement for the STS that allows us to leave the registration fee unchanged. As last year, the conference package covering the abstract booklet, the catering throughout all coffee breaks, the lunchs and snacks and the two dinners, will be 275,--DM for STS members and 350,--DM for regular (non-STS, non-industrial) participants.

The conference site was selected for approximately 200 participants. Due to the development of the society and potentially resulting space limitations, we strongly encourage all STS members to register early. As usual, registration will be handled as first come first serve. Accordingly, there will be no given deadline for registration. Late Registration is still possible. The deadline for abstract submission was September, 15, 2001.

Hilton Hotel, WeimarWe could also arrange a very moderate rate for accomodation at the Hilton Hotel, Weimar. As compared to the regular rate at this hotel ( 350,-- DM per night), single rooms will be available to the conferees for 175,-- DM and double space rooms (which can be shared by two conferees) for 205,-- DM including breakfast buffet!).

Please note, that the absolute deadline for hotel reservations at this reduced rate was October 4th.

  3. Cell Death and Differentiation
  4. Signal Transduction and Cancer
  5. Genomics and Proteomics in Signaling
  6. Cell Cycle Regulation
  7. Control of Transcription
  8. Signal Transduction through G-Proteins
  9. Cell/Cell- and Cell/Matrix-Interactions in Signaling

STS stipends and Poster Prizes

The STS council decided to increase the STS stipends from last years 275,--DM up to 500,--DM according to a favorable financial situation of the STS. Thus, the Society will support up to 10 new and young STS members (diploma or PHD students) with a travel grant of 500,-- DM each. The application deadline for STS-stipends is September 15th. The successful applicants will be notified and personally awarded during the STS meeting in Weimar.

Applicants must be diploma- or PhD-students, a letter of confirmation from the head of the department and a copy of immatriculation certificate is required. Applicants must also be a member of the STS. Applications must be accompanied a curriculum vitae, a description of the current project (no more than two pages) and an abstract. Applications should be sent to the head of the comitee, Dr. Gaby-Fleur Böl (boel@www.dife.de - Fax: +49-33200/88-419), who will collect all stipend applications.

The address for postal mail is:

Dr. Gaby-Fleur Boel
German Institute of Human Nutrition
Dep. Vitamins and Atherosclerosis
Arthur-Scheunert-Allee 114-116
D-14558 Potsdam-Rehbruecke
Germany

Moreover, the poster presentations will once again become more attractive. First of all, there will be enough space for all posters to be mounted throughout the conference. Second, once again, all posters may be introduced to the plenum in the famous 'one minute - one transparency (no slide)' session and third, the poster prices will be raised. For the first time, five posters prices will be awarded this year, starting with the first price at 500,--DM, second price at 400,--DM, third price at 300,--DM, fourth price at 200,--DM and fifth price at 100,-- DM.
